The Kayla skirt is a mid to low rise, romantic, twisted-panel trumpet skirt designed to flatter the waist and upper hips before softly widening into a flirty, flared hem. Its bias-cut panels create movement and a striking diagonal effect. The individual panel construction also makes the Kayla skirt a lovely scrap busting project. Use coordinating fabric remnants, contrasting colours, or mixed prints to create a unique patchwork or colour blocked version, just make sure each piece is large enough to accommodate the required bias grainline.
The pattern includes two length options: knee and midi. As well as two finishing options: fully lined or finished with a waist facing. The centre back seam features an invisible zipper. Choose between French seams for an enclosed finish or standard straight stitched seams finished with a zigzag stitch or overlocking.

Fabric and Material Recommendations
Fabric and Material Recommendations
The fabric must be woven or non-stretch. For the best drape, something that has a bit of stretch along the bias, however the pattern has been designed to fit around the waist even if there is minimal bias stretch.
Weight: 100gsm - 250gsm.
Examples of fabrics: Cotton lawn, washed linen, cotton dobby, satin, crepe, georgette.
Considerations: If choosing something below 150gsm, consider lining it fully to add some weight. Choose a lining that is the same or a lighter weight than your main fabric.
